Our Clinic's Response to COVID-19

YES, WE ARE OPEN.

"The good thing about COVID-19 is that it does not require any unique cleaning chemicals to disinfect hands and surfaces," says Andrew Janowski, an infectious disease expert at Washington University School of Medicine. "Soap and water does the trick."

Hand-washing is so important that if everyone followed good hand-washing hygiene, it could prevent an estimated 1 in 5 respiratory infections, according to the CDC — that's the equivalent of about 6 million cases of the flu this year.

In addition to the usual fresh face paper and the regular soap and water cleaning of all treatment table surfaces, the BBNC has implemented a few additional sanitary and safety measures in light of the #covid_19 pandemic:

  1. All patients are asked use hand sanitizer provided upon entering the clinic. Yes, we have plenty!

  2. All treatment tables will be sprayed with Lysol after each patient.

  3. Patients 75 and over and those who are immune-deficient or taking immuno-suppressant medicines are asked to refrain from entering the clinic for your own safety.

If you are sick, please self-isolate as directed by our Governor and the CDC/WHO.

If you have heart or respiratory disease, diabetes, cancer, or hypertension, please understand that you enter at a higher risk of death in the event of COVID-19 viral infection (up to 10% risk vs less than 1% in the healthy populations).

Our doctors have always and will continue to use anti-viral wipes and sanitizer on our hands between each patient.

H.R. 3654

The Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act (HR 3654) is a bipartisan House bill that has recently been introduced. The bill would allow Medicare beneficiaries to fully access the chiropractic approach to pain-management, reversing the status quo of only covering spinal manipulations--which forces many Medicare beneficiaries to still pay out of pocket for health care. We've repeatedly espoused how increased education and access to non-drug treatments are vital to combating the opioid crisis. Now, our lawmakers are putting this into new policy. Either online at www.acatoday.org/takeaction, or by dialing 202-224-3121, contact your House representative and tell them to “Cosponsor H.R. 3654”.

Can Chiropractic Care Cause a Stroke?

For years now, there has been a swirl of mixed information regarding the relationship between chiropractic adjustments and strokes. However, brand new, extensive research from the journal Annals of Medicine has presented findings with perception-changing clarity:

“Manual therapy [chiropractic treatment] does not result in an increased risk of Cervical Arterial Dissection (CAD) [a tear in the lining of the vertebral artery that can lead to a stroke, especially in people age 45 and under].”

The journal found that there was no excess risk of CAD-caused stroke when comparing chiropractic visits to visiting a primary care physician. The fact of the matter is, most folks experiencing precursor stroke symptoms like severe headaches and neck pain are just going to be seeing chiropractors or physicians to address those outwardly expressed issues. The treatment by either doctor isn’t causing the stroke—it’s a non-contributing event while a stroke crisis develops undetected.

That being said, it is crucial for people (regardless of their treatment plan) to be aware of, and to disclose to their care providers, any family history/known risk-factors and symptoms of stroke so that it can be addressed as quickly as possible.

At the Brouillette Back and Neck clinic, we have delivered over 200,000 safe adjustments to thousands of patients. We also conduct in-depth patient consultation and develop personalized chiropractic treatment plans, so every single one of our patients receives the care that works best for them and their bodies.

October 2017 Named Chiropractic Health Month in Wisconsin

In recognition of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association's efforts with the Governor's Office to help promote non-invasive, drug-free approaches to healthcare and pain management, October 2017 has been named Chiropractic Health Month in the state of Wisconsin.

In light of the rise of the prescription opioid abuse crisis, chiropractic has been recognized at the state level as a major part of the approach to curb what is quickly becoming one of the most intense public health issues of our generation.

The Brouillette Back and Neck Clinic is proud and appreciative of the efforts of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association and the Governor's Office to combat dangerous opioids head-on by promoting the safe, effective, and holistic alternative that is chiropractic care.
